No one could complain about life on the beach – especially not one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Yet, in the end, we often get the impression that all the beachfront tourist locations are slight variations on the same thing. In the case of Playa del Carmen real estate, however, there are some clearly distinguishing features that help explain why condos in Playa del Carmen have been a world-wide favorite over the past decade. The following are a few of those features:

Top Beaches

When someone decides to buy Playa del Carmen beachfront for sale, it’s important to note that they aren’t just buying on a beachfront, but they are buying on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. These beaches have soft, white sand and are very wide. The water is a clear turquoise. Both the sand and water are warm and beautiful for walking on. Vacationing next to the beach is one thing; living next to these beaches is another.

Low-Rise Buildings

Playa del Carmen’s growth and development have been defined by low-rise buildings. In fact, the building height is limited to 4 stories. Most are 2 or 3. This fact gives the town an image of being just that – a town. Most other successful beachfront tourist locations have their beach lined with high-rises that look like they belong in a city about 10 times the size. This factor makes a big difference for anyone buying Playa del Carmen beachfront for sale; if a buyer invests in a penthouse, they’ll have a pleasant view of the beach and the water, without feeling like they’re a mile away from your doorstep.

European Lifestyle

The low-rise, small-town image is one part of a larger lifestyle – a provincial lifestyle that many people feel is sort of European. This feeling is increased by the presence of many Italians, their “gelaterias,” pizza shops and nice pasta restaurants. Another part of this is the fact that residents can walk everywhere. Living on the beachfront, residents can walk to their favorite restaurants and cafes. They can also walk to the downtown supermarkets (Walmart, etc.) or, if they prefer, to local markets that have very good quality (and very well-priced) fruit, vegetables and seafood, caught locally.

Romantic Atmosphere

Playa del Carmen is ranked among the world’s top 10 romantic places, in company with places like Paris. The lifestyle described above really contributes to this. Also, enjoying wine at the table directly on the sand of the beach under the light of the moon, with the fresh breeze coming off the Caribbean – what could be more romantic? Even retired couples often feel that living in Playa del Carmen can add a new spark of romance to a decades-old marriage.

Safe & Clean Town

Playa del Carmen is one of the cleanest communities in Mexico (and Latin America, for that matter) not to mention one of the safest; this fact makes Playa del Carmen beachfront for sale one of the best beachfront options close to home. Walking down Fifth Avenue, the main pedestrian street running parallel to the beachfront, anyone will feel this is true – at any time of day or night. The Yucatan Peninsula has always been a much safer and cleaner location that many of the rougher areas up near the U.S. border, which almost seem to be a far-away country.

Excellent Pricing

One of the most important parts of all of this is that you can actually afford nice Playa del Carmen real estate, comfortable living, life’s little luxuries, etc.

There really is something distinct about Playa del Carmen. Anyone who’s been there can confirm this.

Playa del Carmen is located about an hour south of Cancun in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, and it is one of the most traveled to destinations in the Riviera Maya. Playa del Carmen has its advantages when compared to Cancun one of which is that the prices you usually pay will be a lot smaller and so will the crowds. There is still a lot to do the smaller city that is Playa del Carmen and in fact, some will say that it is better located in the middle of it all.

Nightlife

There are plenty of choices for nightlife in Playa del Carmen and though it is smaller than Cancun, more than likely you will not need much more. The nightlife area of the city is located a couple of blocks from the beach with some of the clubs giving you a view of the water. The best places for you to the party are PlayaCrawl, Coco Bongo, and Party Playa, but if the nightclub is not your scene then you will find Karaoke spots, bars and many other places to have all the fun once the sun goes down.

Food

In the same place where you will find the nightclubs, you will also find great restaurants with menus from every corner in the world. This part of Playa del Carmen feels more like Miami Beach than it does anywhere in Mexico. The good news is that you can also find great spots to chow down some great Mexican food. You can find a few places for “Comida Corrida” which is the Mexican version of fast food, but don’t think of a fast food place anywhere else. Comida corrida includes stew, main course and drinks all with traditional dishes you could only find in Mexico. Mexican bakeries and regular fast food locations are available.

Shopping

Shopping enthusiasts will feel right at home in Playa del Carmen. There are a lot of places where you can buy souvenirs right by the beach. Most of these shops will take pesos or dollars, but if you want the best prices to make sure to pay in pesos as the conversion rate at the stores is not always in your favor. You can also buy souvenirs from street vendors who will usually give you the best overall prices, and you should not be afraid to try to bargain with them. If they see that you are not buying because of the price they will reduce it a bit.

The Beach

The Beach in Playa del Carmen is very similar to those in Cancun but overall they tend to be less crowded. This Mexican beach vacation spot is well kept and if you go out early in the morning you will see the crews cleaning it every morning so that tourists can have the best experience when they visit. The sands are white and fine while the waters are crystal blue. If you visit from May to October the waters are sometimes lukewarm; which is something you cannot say of beaches to the north.

Playa del Carmen-Riviera Maya

Riviera Maya weather has much in common with Cancun and Cozumel simply because it lies between those two popular Mexican destinations.

This resort-filled stretch of the Caribbean coast of Mexico begins just south of Cancun and stretches even further south past Cozumel.

Two of Riviera Maya‘s most popular attractions are Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Playa del Carmen is known for its great shopping and dining district on Fifth Avenue and Tulum is known for its Mayan ruins.

Like Cancun and Cozumel, Playa del Carmen’s weather is hot during the summer and very wet during the rainy season.

The best time to go there take careful planning with the weather in mind.

Temperatures

Average high temperatures reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit or higher during the months of May through August, according to historical records for the area.

Riviera Maya weather in January and December is coolest when average highs hover around 83 degrees.

Average low temperatures, which take place mainly at night, range from the high 60s in the winter to the low to mid-70s during the summer.

Seawater temperatures usually fall between the average highs and the average lows for air temperatures.

That means the water will be comfortable for swimming most months of the year except for mornings during the winter.

Speaking from experience, trade winds will bring the wind chill factor down and could make winter swimming uncomfortable on some days during the winter.

Rainfall

Rain is a big factor for the Riviera Maya area especially during the peak months of the Caribbean hurricane season.

Total rainfall may reach as high as 10 inches a month in September and October and five inches or more in August and November.

The total number of days it rains reaches 15 in September and October and 13 in August.

The months with the lowest levels of rain are January through April with less than three inches apiece.

Best and Worst Times to Go

The best months to go to Riviera Maya are March and April for a combination of warm temperatures and low rainfall.

May and July are the second-best options. Temperatures will be warmer but rainfall will be somewhat higher.

The worst times to go clearly are September and October followed by August and November.

That said, no one can predict the weather with 100 percent accuracy. But a little planning does help.

Anyone who plans to go to Riviera Maya during months with high amounts of rain, especially during the hurricane season, should consider buying travel insurance.

Scuba diving is a great way to experience the underwater kingdom. It gives you the chance to unveil the mysteries and the wonders of the environment which covers the majority of our planet. It is believed that once you learn all about scuba diving, it will become a lifelong obsession. After I had a private lesson, it is time to take an exam for an open water dive certificate. My exam took place in Boracay Island. Boracay is a famous tourist destination. With its white sandy beaches and blue clear water, it is considered a paradise island. Many wonderful and interesting marine lives can also be found in the dive sites. The marine life is very diversified that a diver will definitely enjoy and love diving in.

During my first dive experience, I was really excited but a bit nervous. I really tried hard not panic as I and my instructor went deeper and deeper underwater. This is my chance to overcome my fear. It was not long I felt comfortable. It was really a great experience, seeing the beauty of sea wildlife because of the presence of many varieties of reef fish, with Lagoon Rays and moray eels. It was totally a different world. It is so quiet. For me, it is total relaxation.

Another diving experience that was unforgettable in my life was when I scuba dive in Tulum, Mexico. Tulum offers some of the best reef diving and snorkeling in the Mayan Riviera, together with exciting and cave diving. Around Tulum, you will have access to many freshwater caverns known as cenotes, part of an ancient underwater river system running from the deep jungle to the sea throughout the Yucatan Peninsula. A combination of various geological events and climate changes created an incredible and unique ecosystem in Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. I am positive that you will not be disappointed with your scuba diving experience in Tulum.

Several things I appreciate about my visit to Tulum are the not so crowded beaches, its white, sugar-like sand and turquoise blue water, and their rustic cabanas. These cabanas are quite unique Tulum accommodations. This place is not for you if you’re looking for luxuries. But since we visited as a group we opted to rent a Tulum beach house.

I am really eager to experience more in scuba diving, to widen my knowledge and explore more.

While on vacation in Mexico, many people think that in order to participate in activities such as scuba diving, you must be an experienced diver in order to scuba dive. This is simply not the case. It is advised that you have some basic knowledge of diving and also be a strong and somewhat experienced swimmer. What is intriguing about scuba diving in Mexico is that you do not have to be an experienced diver. In Mexico, there are many people who go diving for the very first time.

The general idea of scuba diving in most areas is the same. However, with scuba diving in Mexico, what you will see underwater can be quite different and alluring by the prevalence of underwater animals and plants that can only be seen in the Mexico area. Below is a list of the top 3 reasons why you should consider your first underwater adventure in Mexico:

(1) The Yucatan Peninsula: ‘Cenote Dive’

A ‘cenote’ is vast system of underground rivers, pools, and caverns. Many of these ‘cenotes’ can be found in Tulum in the Yucatan Peninsula. With an experienced guide, these ‘cenotes’ are open for swimming and cave diving. The Yucatan Peninsula is world renowned for its network of underground caverns. Diving in a ‘cenote’ is unlike cave diving and requires no certification beyond OpenWater. The reasoning that no certification is required is because you are never more than 30 feet (50 meters) from an opening. Imagine diving into a lagoon, with sunlight and trees sparkling through the clear blue water. These ‘cenote’ dives also offer snorkeling as well. These ‘cenotes’ make scuba diving in Mexico the ideal place to enjoy your first scuba experience.

(2) Los Cabos, Cabo San Lucas, Cabo Pulmo, The East Cape and La Paz Baja California Sur, Mexico

The diversity in fish and marine mammals that congregate in this area of Mexico in unmatched anywhere is the Earth’s undersea domain. In this region, scuba diving in Mexico is unparalleled to any part of the world. Three major ocean currents collide here to create a very unique and varied sea life that is present in these fruitful waters. The California current, Panamic current, and the North equatorial countercurrent all interact together and bring an abundant population of plankton. This staple of marine life attracts the whole sea life food chain. This presence of marine life has caused the Sea of Cortez to be labeled the “World’s Richest Sea”. This is especially true for the waters that caress the southern tip of Baja.

(3) Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Scuba diving in Mexico can also be a great adventure in the Puerto Vallarta region along the Pacific Ocean. Puerto Vallarta scuba diving is a rare treat as many of the nearby islands and bays, such as Los Arcos, Majahuitas. There is also the Marietas islands, which have been designated as protected underwater national parks. Between the months of December and April, scuba diving in Mexico in the waters of Puerto Vallarta will likely offer views of humpback whales, as mammals migrate to warm seas off the coast each winter. Whale sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, and a variety of tropical fish also make this safe haven their home. Puerto Vallarta scuba diving has become one of the hottest scuba diving locations in Mexico.

The Riviera Maya is a sunny region with white sand that borders the turquoise waters stretch of amazing beachfront that takes up over seventy miles of coastland on the eastern part of Mexico in the state of Quintana Roo. The Riviera Maya is comprised of many gorgeous isolated and virgin beaches that offer visitors both romance and tranquility, as well as exciting adventures at every turn for the bolder of heart. A tropical paradise in the truest sense of the word, the crystal clear seas are even rumored to be hiding ancient treasure. One type of treasure that we know is hiding in the reefs is the live treasure of gorgeous seafaring creatures that are sure to delight snorkelers and divers alike.

No matter what your ideal beachfront vacation dreams may consist of, the Riviera Maya will undoubtedly be able to satisfy your every desire. Chock full of gorgeous Resorts that are just waiting to provide you with the ultimate Caribbean experience, the Riviera Maya is definitely the place to go if your idea of a vacation consists of gorgeous beaches, fun, relaxation and lots of sun! Known among locals, regular visitors and first-time vacationers alike as the ultimate Caribbean experience, the Riviera Maya Cancun is a wonderful place for your vacation whether you are single or married with children or anything in between! The isolated, untouched beaches offer a stunning contrast to the modern architectural complexes of the resort hotels, marinas, sporting facilities, nightclubs, and restaurants. In addition, the southern half of the region contains the main ecological reserve of the state of Quintana Roo, the Sian Ka’an, which is not only a remarkable habitat that is world-renowned for the richness of its flora and fauna but also adds to the overall appeal of the Riviera Maya.

Riviera Maya is also a favorite destination for real estate investment in Mexico. Due to its tropical climate, US-style infrastructure and relatively cheaper real estate prices, investors from the US, Canada, and Europe are thronging to destinations like Tulum, Puerto Vallarta Real Estate and Playa del Carmen Real Estate. Some of the world’s biggest and most prestigious developers are also active in the region with world-class real estate projects. Most of the projects are booked during the pre-construction phase itself due to lower prices and the freedom to customize condos and property. During the initial stages of real estate project development, the prices are substantially lower than the final prices. The value of the project increases as the construction progresses from one phase to another. Savvy Mexico real estate investors aware of this fact buy pre-construction property and benefit in the process. Nowadays, Real Estate developers in Mexico also encourage real estate buyers to buy preconstruction condos by revising the prices periodically upwards at predetermined stages of real estate project’s development and sales. This attracts real estate investors to buy the property during the initial stages of project development. This ensures that both developers and real estate investors in Riviera Maya benefit from this strategy.
